Bainbridge Cup Information

BAINBRIDGE CUP OVERVIEW:

  • The “Bainbridge Cup” is a Team Competition featuring “Team North America” versus “Team Europe”.
  • Teams will be formed by “ALL” players who register for this event.
  • This “Cup” is the inaugural event of the International Federation of Pickleball.
  • The Bainbridge Cup is an annual event which started in 2017 in Madrid, Spain. The 2nd Cup was held in 2018 in Montesilvano, Italy. The winning Team of the 2018 Bainbridge Cup (North America) will defend its title in the 3rd Annual Bainbridge Cup to be held in 2019 in Essen, Germany.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

  • The Bainbridge Cup will be held on July 12, 2019 in Essen, Germany, hosted by the German Pickleball Association (deutscher-pickleball-bund.de).
  • Immediately following the Cup competition will be another international competition: the German Open Pickleball Championships 2019 will be held at the same location as the Cup. Therefore, there will be three consecutive days of competition at the same location: July 12, 13 and 14.

COMPETITION FORMAT:

  • Team Competition: Europe versus North America
  • Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles
  • Age/Skill-Based Competition
  • Juniors (7-18), 19+, 50+, 65+, 70+, 75+, 80+
  • One-Day Event
  • All players will play multiple matches throughout the day
  • Each match is worth points for your team (Europe, North America)
  • Limited to 300 participants
  • IFP sanctioning rules will apply

German Open Pickleball Championships 2019:

  • The day after the Bainbridge Cup competition there will be another international pickleball competition: the German Open Pickleball Championships 2019 will be held at the same location as the Cup. Therefore, there will be three consecutive days of competition at the same location.
  • The German Open Pickleball Championships 2019 will be organized by the Germany Pickleball Association
  • Dates: July 13 & 14, 2019.
  • Location: Essen, Germany (18 miles from Dusseldorf)
  • Format:
    • Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Doubles
    • Age/Skill-Based Tournament
    • Juniors (7-18), 19+, 50+, 65+, 70+, 75+, 80+
    • Limited to 300 participants
    • IFP sanctioning rules will apply
    • The tournament director reserves the right to adjust the format based on registration numbers.
